If you just want to import the splines, you can do this quickly using the CV ArtSmart Import command. Restart Cinema 4D and you’ll find CV ArtSmart within the Plug-Ins menu. I want to shatter it with Nitroblast but when I import it I get a null object with 2 spline paths in it instead of a polygon object. Even if you prefer CINEMA 4D’s drawing tools over Illustrator’s, there’s a very good chance a client will someday give you an AI file with the expectation that you will turn it into a 3D logo. For many artists, the path drawing tools in Adobe Illustrator are more intuitive or at the very least more familiar, than those in CINEMA 4D. Therefore, don’t be surprised if the term,export’ is used if this factor is seen in an import function (this factor is explained as a whole here). This factor can be found at numerous locations throughout Cinema 4D when importing or exporting foreign formats.
